Performed through music, narration and illustrations, Merregnon: Land of Silence presents the wonder of the orchestral sound to a whole new audience.

Merregnon: Land of Silence is an original symphonic fairy tale, created for School and Family Concerts. Following in the tradition of timeless classics such as Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, it features exclusive music by internationally renowned composer Yoko Shimomura, known for her work on multi-million selling video games such as Super Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV. The story has been written by celebrated children’s author Frauke Angel.

Says Yoko Shimomura: “I’m pleased and excited to be involved in the Merregnon: Land of Silence project. Writing something that children and young people will enjoy is a rewarding challenge, and together with the charming story and beautiful artwork I hope we will inspire a brand new generation of orchestral and classical music fans.”

Created, directed and produced by Thomas Böcker, Merregnon: Land of Silence was first recorded in June 2021 and published online as a concert film on 10 September 2021, before it embarked on a world tour.

Says Thomas Böcker: “It has always been a goal of my work to convey the beauty and power of orchestras. I’m fortunate to have had the creative help of some of the most talented individuals from the worlds of music, art and storytelling. I am grateful to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra for trusting me to present the premiere of Merregnon: Land of Silence and now look forward to many more performances around the world.”
